To some couples getting pregnant comes easily but to others it may take a while before they are able to conceive.

Infertility is still something looked upon as a taboo in Africa with wives getting pressure from their parents and in-laws to get pregnant.

If you are trying to conceive, here are things you can do to boost your fertility:

Reduce alcohol intake: According to doctors, drinking too much disrupts ovulation and sperm production, making it hard for one to conceive. You and your partner should thus keep it at most a glass of wine a week.

Avoid smoking: Fertility doctors also say that male smokers have 50% chance of being impotent as smoking causes lower sperm count. In women, smoking hinder the embryo from implanting in the uterus.

Use fertility apps: There are free fertility apps on Google app such as GetBaby, Fertility Friend and Period Diary which helps you know when you are ovulating. It also measures body temperature to show you the optimum temperature for conceiving.

More water intake: The reproductive system just like any other body systems require water to function optimally. The water strengthens the womb lining for easier implantation. It also helps increase the cervical fluid that lead the sperm to the eggs.

Keep your sex life active: Fertility experts also say that couples who engage in sex at least four times a week have more chances of getting pregnant than those who do so once a week. The experts say that more sperms are retained in the body the less healthier they become thus unable to fertilize an egg.
