Kevin Mboya returns from Kwale, flowers withered

Kevin Mboya is back from Kwale. 

The love-struck man had set off from Nairobi on January 26 to surprise his girlfriend with a bunch of flowers on her birthday. 

"I have travelled all the way from Nairobi to Kwale to come and surprise my girlfriend on her birthday," he wrote on Twitter, a post that has since gone viral. "I haven't texted or called her in the last 24hrs, she maybe thinks I forgot it's her birthday. I am waiting for her just outside her office to surprise her. I hope it goes well."

Kenyans on social media, who have an unquenched thirst for 'tea' [juicy stories and gossip] jumped onto the Tweet eager to know how the romantic gesture panned out. Did the mystery damsel welcome Kevin Mboya? Had she kept her pledge of faithfulness? 

"Niaje wasee, Mboya Kevin hapa. Nimefika poa kutoka Kwale," he says in a short YouTube video. "Four days ago nlienda Kwale kuona 'mheshimiwa'. Nlienda na maua but nimerudi nazo. Of course hii ina pass some message. Saa hii siko emotionally OK vyenye naweza washow what happened." 

Looking crestfallen and dejected, Mboya says he is physically OK, though. 

"While leaving for Kwale, I went there with love but I have come back with room for more love," he says. "Thank you for your concern..more about what happened in Kwale, I will share it soon." 

Mboya identifies himself as a 'Digital Media Consultant and Marketer'. Even with the drama, Kenyans are hopeful that it is a genuine love story and not just another false tale for the sake of social media fame.
