Police officers from Limuru and Kabete constituencies in Kiambu County have arrested two main suspects who are said to be harassing car owners in the areas by stealing their cars.
In the recent case of a businessman whose truck was stolen, police officers managed to find it at a car wash. It had been vandalised with some of its parts missing.
The owner of the lorry, an Isuzu FSR, says that he had parked it at Luqman Police Station in Rironi, Kiambu County, when it was stolen.
Stephen Njenga was shocked to realise that after his lorry was stolen, it was driven less than 4 kilometers to a car wash where it was cut into pieces and vital parts stolen.
“I had parked the lorry at Luqman Petrol Station in Rironi on March 21, 2024 at around 5 am. I have found my lorry vandalised at a car wash. The engine, gear box and all tyres are missing, we only found its body which the culprits had started cutting into small parts,” Njenga narrates. “Wizi wa magari umeongezeka sana hapa Kiambu.”
Confirming the incident, Limuru Sub-County Deputy Police Commander Paul Yator says that strict legal action will be taken against any perpetrator of vehicle theft arrested in the area.
The police boss also says that they will capitalise on suspects arrested to expose the vehicle theft syndicate in the area.
Area residents say that they are living in fear of their vehicles being vandalised or stolen.
One of those arrested is the owner of the car wash.
