List of top leaders accompanying President Ruto in the US

President William Ruto on Monday May 20, 2024 arrived in the United States of America for a three day state visit.

He was accompanied by senior government officials, governors and First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto.

The leaders include Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi ,Defense CS Aden Duale, Trade CS Rebecca Miano and Health CS Susan Nakhumicha.

Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga and her Machakos counterpart Wavinya Ndeti were also part of the team that accompanied Ruto during the maiden US state visit.

Digital Strategist Dennis Itumbi, National Security Advisor Monicah Jumah, Council of Governors Chair Anne Waiguru, and Senate Majority leader Aaron Cheruiyot also accompanied the president.

In addition, National Assembly Majority leader Kimani Ichung’wah and Foreign Affairs PS Roselyne Njogu are among other notable leaders who boarded the jet.

Leaders from the private sector included Safaricom Chief Executive Officer Peter Ndegwa, founder of Vivo Fashion Group Wandia Gichuru and Chebet Mutai of Wazawazi.

Ruto alighted at the airport as his motorcade and secret service rushed to usher him in the signature building.

Over 50 chase cars were lined up at the airport ready to receive the President.

”I welcome president Ruto’s engagements in Atlanta, I thank the City of Atlanta for their hospitality, and look forward to seeing the Kenyan President at the May 23 State Dinner,” US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said.

President Ruto with First Lady Rachel Ruto were hosted by Kenya’s diaspora community in Atlanta.

Ahead of his arrival, there was a beehive of activities at the airport as the secret service from the US government was ensuring everything was in order.

The president is expected to visit several places in the US such as The Presidential Library and Museum.

He will also visit Ebenezer Baptist church to pay honor to the civil rights struggle and emphasize how religion can be a force for good.
