Lives of over 800 pupils at risk as dilapidated classrooms develop huge cracks

The lives of over 800 pupils of Kolanya Boys Primary School in Teso North, Busia County, are at risk as huge cracks have developed in a building housing ECDE and lower classes.

Worried parents are now calling on the county government to demolish the building instead of risking the lives of their children.

The school management say the classes were last built in the 1950s.

Speaking to the press, the school principal Dr. Isapuke Caroline appealed to area MP and county government to do a face-lift of the school infrastructure. The school has dilapidated classrooms and risky toilets most of which were built in 1950s.

Parents are now worried that the lives of their children are at risk when they continue learning under these classrooms.

Dr. Isapuke added that despite the school producing sterling results for many years, it has no single NG-CDF or county government structure as most buildings here were built by parents and well-wishers.
