Nakuru County’s Liza Chelule is the top performing Woman Representative in the country, according to a survey by KenyaTrack.
According to the survey released on Wednesday, November 27, Chelule enjoys an approval rating of 84.7%.
The study found out that some of Chelule’s most impactful projects included; supporting women groups with tents and chairs which they lend out and earn to sustain themselves and the whole team, giving full scholarship to 403 vulnerable students through bursary to those in colleges, universities and secondary schools, build houses to vulnerable families of widows, widowers, singles mothers or PWD.
Chelule’s high rating has also been attributed to empowering groups with funds for table banking to over 100 groups, engaging in vital discussions with the president on women’s rights and protecting vulnerable group and leading campaigns against SGBV, Femicide and Early Pregnancies.
The survey also ranks Murang’a Woman Representative Betty Maina at 82.7%, with respondents pleased by her actions to support event organizers groups with chairs that are used in community meetings and events, as well as supporting Kahumbu Beekeepers Group from Kahumbu Ward and Rugaita S.H.G from Ruchu Ward with beehives to support their bee keeping hustle.
Maina was also ranked high, with residents saying she supports the less privileged by sponsoring them to access education.
Others ranked highly were Pamela Njeru (Embu) with 80.9%, Elizabeth Kilemia (Meru) with 79.5%, while Kericho’s Beatrice Kemei capped off the top five most performing Woman Representatives.
The survey was conducted between November 4, 2024 to November 25, 2024.
A total of 12,126 from all the 290 constituencies across Kenya participated in the survey. Those approached in the survey were Kenyan adults aged 18+, who are registered voters.
