Law enforcement officials have arrested two notorious robbery suspects, Harun Kariuki, 33, and his accomplice and girlfriend Christine Nyakio Kinyua, 20, following a string of violent crimes that have plagued Mombasa and Mariakani areas.
The arrests were executed by a specialized team from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) operating out of Kaloleni and Mariakani police stations. The duo is believed to be behind several high-profile heists, including a tragic robbery that resulted in a fatality on July 18, 2024.
After a thorough investigation, police tracked the suspects to a hideout in Samburu Township. They are also believed to be involved in an abduction and robbery that took place on July 24, 2024, as well as a shooting incident on July 17, 2024.
During the arrest, officers conducted a meticulous search of the suspects’ residence and found a large amount of suspected stolen property. Among the items recovered were nine mobile phones, three hard disks, a 24-inch Aucma television, two generators, a laptop, and various motorcycle registration items. These items will be important evidence in the ongoing investigation.
Currently, both suspects are in custody, awaiting legal proceedings for their alleged involvement in these crimes.
