Police have launched investigations after a woman was killed by her boyfriend in Muvuti area, Machakos County in a suspected love triangle.

The incident was confirmed by Machakos county police commander Patrick Lobolia, while saying that the deceased was reportedly murdered by her boyfriend at a rented house in Muvuti area within the outskirts of Machakos town on Sunday night.

Lobolia said the assailant escaped immediately after committing the crime but police have launched investigations to ensure he is arrested.

“The incident is suspected to be out of a love triangle. The man reportedly invited the woman to his rented house at Muvuti area within Machakos subcounty and later raped before killing her,” Lobolia said.

Lobolia said the matter was reported to Machakos police station as a murder incident.

Meanwhile, officers from Machakos police station visited the crime scene and removed the body  to Machakos Level 5 hospital mortuary awaiting an autopsy.

The police boss disclosed that  Directorate of Criminal Investigations detectives attached to the Machakos police station have taken over the case to ensure thorough investigations and justice to the family of the victim.

“The DCI officers are already investigating the incident, they are in hot pursuit of the suspect,” Lobolia said.

At the same time, the police boss warned residents against taking the law into their own hands but report to the police for help. 

He also urged couples and people in romantic relationships to seek guidance from professionals in solving their differences to avoid similar occurrences in future.
