Malulu Injendi’s son declares interest to vie for Malava MP seat

Pressure is mounting on the son of the late Malava MP Malulu Injendi to vie for the seat and complete his father’s development programmes.

Rhyan Injendi, who is the first born son to the deceased leader has hinted that he will be taking a stab at the legislative position when the right time comes.

Speaking during the commemoration ceremony for the MP where he accepted the calls to run for the Malava parliamentary seat to complete the remaining two years, his acceptance speech was met with cheers and jubilations from the public who declared him as the most preferred candidate among the other aspirants.

The ceremony which was held at the MP’s home in Lugusi Chemuche ward, Malava constituency, graced by the Malava catholic parish church led by Father Vincent Sanga celebrated the life of the deceased as a peaceful and development oriented leader who will be missed by many.

It was during the opportunity for the family to address the church and congregants that Rhyan made the announcement stating that his father had initiated many project that needs to be completed and that it will be an abomination to his father and family and the constituency at large if he did not take over the MP’s political mantle and serve the constituents for the remaining period.

The sentiments were received with high voltage elations as his father’s supporters praised him for taking the bold step to represent them.

He thanked the political class led by President William Ruto, friends, family and the Malava people for standing with the family during their grieving period and hailed their unwavering support to give the late a befitting send off.

“Your unity and support you showed us during our time of grief is a clear indication that you not only believed but trusted our father as a true leader and for the Malava people thank you for trusting in him and electing him to serve you for three terms starting 2013, 2017 and 2022 and he was still working to ensure that Malava becomes developed but he left before he could accomplish his goal of bettering the constituency and that is why I’m humbly asking for your support to steer me to parliament to complete what my father started” he requested.

He said he has been receiving calls and requests from the public and supporters of his father urging him to take up the position and the pressure has been intense prompting him to heed to their request.

He added that he was waiting for the independent, electoral boundaries commission (IEBC) to be constituted and operational after which the government will declare the seat vacant paving way for a by election.

“I am aware that my father left some projects including infrastructure such as roads, KMTC, electricity and security pending and which I feel obligated to complete them on his behalf if you give me that chance to do so considering that its only two years remaining to the next polls, I want to be the one to complete them and as for 2027 we will cross that bridge when the right time comes but for now I’m concerned about finish what our Mp started” he noted.

Earlier on during the MP funeral, COTU secretary general Francis Atwoli urged the family to give the government one of the four sons to take over and complete the constituency projects initiated by his father.

At the same time President Ruto’s aide Farouk Kibet, also stated that the Kenya Kwanza administration will ensure that the MP’s position should not be taken by opposition as he was in government.
