Police have arrested a 30-year-old who allegedly killed his mother on Thursday, March 21 night at Riakinia village in Ndia, Kirinyaga County.
Kirinyaga West Sub-County Police Commander Moses Koskei says Murimi Maina was arrested at Kagumo in Kirinyaga Central Constituency.
At the time of his arrest, Murimi was selling his phone to get fare to enable him to disappear.
The suspect is currently being held at Baricho Police Station as investigations continue, before he’s taken to court to be charged with murder. “He’s being held here in the station as we are talking now,” Koskei told journalists.
On the fateful night, the suspect reportedly descended on his mother Jane Nyambura Maina following a disagreement over coffee trees on their piece of land.
The police boss said the gruesome murder was spurred by her mother who is said to have destroyed 20 coffee plants before butchering her to death.
