A Migori man has been charged in a Kisumu court for impersonating Supreme Court Judge Justice William Ouko.
Leakey Oduor, is also facing accusations for defrauding unsuspecting members of the public.
The accused denied the charge of impersonation when he appeared before the Kisumu Chief Magistrate Douglas Ogoti and was released on a Ksh.500,000 bond or an alternative of Ksh. 250,000 cash bail.
According to police reports, Oduor had residences in Nairobi, Kakamega, and Migori counties, where he allegedly operated his fraudulent activities.
Ogoti directed the matter be heard on January 8, 2024.
Oduor was arrested on December 8, arraigned on Friday in a Kiambu Senior Resident’s Magistrate’s Court, and the judge ordered for him to be detained for 3 days.

According to court papers, ”Judge William Ouko received information that a mobile number 0728 494 058 purporting to be his mobile number was being used to defraud members of the public in the pretext that he could influence public employment.”
Among the documents filed in court and set to be presented as evidence are letters purported to be from a cross-section of institutions offering various people employment which supposedly Amolloh used the name of the Judge of the Supreme Court to secure.

The Judiciary has also assured it’s commitment to uphold the highest standards of ethics among its members.
Members of the public have been cautioned to be careful with fraudsters amongst them trying to make a quick shilling.
