Police in Likuyani, Kakamega County have arrested a man for allegedly killing his friend during a fight over tobacco.
According to the police report, the incident occurred in Seregea, Likuyani constituency where a dispute erupted over tobacco worth Ksh50.
This was after the village elder Jacob Mukangai reported that the suspect, Francis Mushila, said that he killed his friend Vitalis Shidenye, aged 42, during a disagreement over tobacco.
Mukangai added that the suspect was annoyed by the victim who was demanding tobacco that he had sent him to buy several days earlier.
However, the family of the deceased denied these claims, stating that the suspect killed their loved one in an attempt to steal his money.
The family of the deceased, led by his sister-in-law Jane Khasoha, further noted that the deceased had money after selling a piece of land.
Meanwhile, the family of the victim is demanding justice, and calling on the police to ensure thorough investigations.
