Man axed to death while trying to separate fighting couple in Kakamega

A 28-year-old man was axed and killed while trying to end a fight between a couple in Buyinje village, Musoli, Kakamega County.

The victim, Moses Akumali, was heading home when he came across a couple quarreling on Saturday morning.

Both the police and eyewitnesses reported that Akumali attempted to intervene and halt the altercation.

The man involved in the altercation grabbed an axe and struck Akumali on the head three times, causing fatal injuries.

This action ended the fight between the couple, as reported by witnesses to the police.

The reason behind the argument and fight remains unclear.

Villagers rescued Akumali and transported him to Shibwe Hospital for treatment after he suffered severe bleeding.

Tragically, despite initial treatment and discharge, his condition worsened, leading to his passing on while enroute to Kakamega County Hospital.

Thereafter, his body was taken to Mukumu Mission Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination.

Police officers arrived at the scene and found the axe, initiating a search for the suspect.

Meanwhile in Nandi County police have arrested a 48-year-old man for stabbing his 24-year-old son to death.

The victim passed away on the evening of Saturday, August 31, at Kapsabet Referral Hospital.

According to the police reports, the young man was fatally stabbed in the chest during a physical altercation with his father.

The altercation turned violent, leading to severe bleeding from the stab wound.

The reason for the dispute remains unknown.

Authorities were informed of the incident and later of the hospitalization where Kenneth was declared dead.
