A 24-year-old man was caught with cocaine worth KSh1.8 million after a raid by anti-narcotics detectives in a bus.

The suspect, Charles Obaga Kavehere, was allegedly ferrying 417g of cocaine hidden under the inner sole of his rubber shoes from Moyale to Nairobi.

He was travelling aboard a bus belonging to Score Investment Ltd. Acting on intelligence, the anti-narcotics sleuths intercepted the bus at Blue Post in Thika and conducted a search.

“The suspect was taken to the Jomo Kenyatta Intn’l Airport (JKIA) for further screening within his person,” DCI said in a statement.

Further screening revealed the suspect had swallowed more packs of the drug which they suspect he would have egested upon reaching his destination.

Kavehere is currently in the custody of JKIA- anti-narcotics unit pending egestion of the drug and further questioning.
