A 57-year old man together with his nephew were on Monday February 26, 2024 arraigned in Thika High Court and charged with murdering his mother, sister and a house girl.
During the hearing of the case, the court was told that the alleged murder incident took place in Matathia village, Thika East, Kiambu County two months ago.
Benson Njoroge Ngugi together with his nephew Peter Ngugi Wanjiku (28) denied the charges of three counts of murder before Thika High Court Judge Justice Florence Muchemi.
They were charged jointly with others not before court with murdering Peninah Wairimu Ngugi (87), Pauline Njeri (50) and a house girl Joyce Wanjiru on December 6, 2024 in their home in Matathia village of Ngoliba Ward, Thika East Sub-County.

At the same time, the court rejected their application to be released on bond, as the court indicated that they were waiting for probation and DCI report.
The Judge also ruled that the two suspects should be held at different remand prisons.
Benson and Peter are said to have strangled the mother to death, and when the housemaid came to respond to the commotion from her bedroom, she was clobbered to death.

It’s also alleged that during that time, the daughter had arrived at home to check on the mother and upon entering the house and witnessing the horrific scenes, she was also clobbered to death.
Two bodies were discovered days later inside their newly built house while the third who had been beheaded was buried in a shallow grave a few meters from the house.
The family reportedly disposed off property in Ruiru town raising suspicions that the attackers might have been after money.
The case will be mentioned on March 13, 2024 when bond application will be determined.
