Police in Bomet County have launched a manhunt for a man suspected of killing four people including children in Kipkebe village, Bomet Central.

Apparently, the suspect stormed his lover’s house armed with a machete. At the time, three children and the house help were around.

The man reportedly killed his two children aged 16 years (a son) and two-year-old daughter, his niece aged eight years and the house help who was 16 years old.

The 45-year-old allegedly attacked his daughter on the cheek before inflicting more injuries.

He then turned on his niece, eventually killing her, and the house help.

The 16-year-old boy attempted to flee but was caught up and also attacked fatally in the killing spree.

It is not yet clear how the neighbours were not alerted to the scene in time to salvage the tragic situation.

Police boss Ali Bashir said investigations had kicked off to establish the circumstances around the horrific occurrence.

“We do not know the motive so far,” he added.

Bodies of the deceased were transferred to Tenwek Hospital mortuary pending autopsy.

Another man in Kisumu goes berserk

A similar incident was reported in Kisumu County last week where a 28-year-old man attacked four relatives before his arrest.

The suspect is said to have hacked his pregnant wife to death using a machete, before killing his six-year-old son who was asleep.

He then went on to hack his 70-year-old uncle to death as he tried to intervene, and the uncle’s wife who was also in the vicinity.

He fled into a nearby sugarcane plantation leaving residents in horror that Saturday night. He was eventually arrested and arraigned.

Neighbours stated that he had no history of violence and therefore shocked about his actions.

That on the fateful day, the murder suspect allegedly bought lunch for his family before going berserk hours later.
