Man found with stolen car of missing female taxi driver in Nakuru

Victoria Mumbua Ikusya, a 35-year-old taxi driver, went missing after accepting a long-distance trip. She had agreed to transport passengers from Mombasa to Samburu and back to Diani.

On the morning of September 25, she left her home at 5:30 a.m for the trip.

Her last known contact was a call she made from Samburu village in Kwale County. After this call, her phone was switched off, and attempts to reach her throughout the day were unsuccessful.

The situation escalated when her car, a white Nissan Serena with registration KDQ 182F, was last tracked in the Kisumu area, specifically Kodiaga, before the car’s tracker was disabled.

Her family became more concerned when the vehicle’s location could no longer be traced.

Sikika Road Safety, a road safety advocacy group, shared the news of her disappearance on their Facebook page, urging the public to assist in locating her.

Victoria’s sibling also took to Instagram on September 29, 2024 pleading for help and revealing that the family had reported her missing after losing contact.

She described how the family last heard from Victoria at 4 p.m. on September 25 and how they were unable to trace her phone or car from that point on.

The disappearance prompted a police investigation, led by officers in Mombasa and involving the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

Victoria’s mother had earlier reported her missing at the Makupa Police Station in Mombasa. As the investigation unfolded, police received information that the car was spotted in Kondele, Kisumu County.

It later emerged that the car was found in Nakuru, still bearing its original plates, and in the possession of a young man.

The man was arrested , but Victoria’s whereabouts remain unknown. The police are continuing their investigation and are interrogating the suspect in an attempt to locate her.

The public and law enforcement authorities are working together to piece together what happened on that fateful day in hopes of bringing her home safely.

Victoria’s family and friends are now calling for immediate action to determine her location.
