Umar Muwaya, a 47-year-old man in Uganda who allegedly defiled his three biological daughters has been arrested and is being remanded at the Kirinya Prison in Jinja City.
The daughters defiled were aged 14,13 and 10 and were residents of Mafubira village.
According to a report, Muwaya was arrested in 2020 after one of his family members learned about his acts and reported him to the area’s local councils and later on to the police.
Muwaya however pleaded not guilty before Judge Winniefred Nabisinde on Tuesday February 27, 2024.
She had him remanded.

The Prosecution led by Shallotte Kamwime told the court that Muwaya started defiling his daughters after his wife divorced him and left the children behind.
“The accused was living with the victims in one room-house and whenever he could come back home drunk, he could defile the children and warn them never to tell anyone about the act,” Shallotte told the court.
Muwaya defended himself from the claims saying that the accusations made against him were false and that it was only a way for his sisters-in-law to get back at him after he denied them their love proposal.
“When my wife divorced me after we developed irreconcilable differences, one of my sisters-in-law tried to lure me into love but I refused. This angered her and she vowed to punish me,” Muwaya said.

Upon being questioned about his relationship with his kids, Muwaya revealed that it was a good one.
The three kids have been taken to a children’s facility where they are temporarily staying before other measures are taken given they have no one to take care of them at the moment.
Their mother is currently suffering from a mental illness thus not fit to look after them.
The case has been adjourned to 1st March 2024 for further hearing.
