Man regrets after leaving ailing father to celebrate Christmas with girlfriend

A young Kenyan man has sparked heated discussions online after revealing his heartbreaking Christmas experience.

The man, who chose to spend the holiday with his girlfriend instead of his family, was left disheartened when his decision backfired.

“I blew off my family to spend Christmas with my girlfriend. My dad is dying of cancer and isn’t getting treatment. This could be his last Christmas,” he said.

The man shared that his father, who is battling cancer, had looked forward to celebrating Christmas with the family.

However, he opted to spend the day with his girlfriend, believing it would strengthen their bond.

To his surprise, upon arriving at her house, she abruptly left to spend time with her own family, leaving him alone in unfamiliar surroundings.

“I went with her, and I have two dogs, and then she and her family left me.

She said she was only going for an hour. She didn’t tell me it was an hour away.

She ended up being gone for five hours. I spent my Christmas alone. I ate Christmas dinner alone. My feelings are really hurt, and I’m not sure how to handle it,” he said.

The man’s revelation drew widespread criticism from netizens, many of whom faulted him for prioritizing his romantic relationship over his ailing father.

“You made the decision to choose your girlfriend over your dying father and then she proved to you what a huge mistake of judgement you made.

Start with re-examining yourself, then re-evaluating your relationship with this girlfriend,” one person commented to his post.

Others pointed out the selflessness of family during challenging times, emphasizing that his father likely needed his support more than ever.
