Man slaughters nephew and hands pieces to wife to make meal for him

A man brutally murdered his nephew, the nine-year-old son of his elder brother, and dismembered the body before handing the pieces to his wife in a saucepan for cooking.

The suspect, a resident of Kanyanzira Village in Ntungamo District, Western Uganda, is reported to have committed the crime on Sunday, January 14, 2024.

“The wife left for church with their child, while the man remained at home with his nephew. Upon returning from church, the suspect told his wife that he had purchased some meat and it was in a saucepan in the kitchen,” John Kabeho, the district councillor, is quoted by the Daily Monitor.

According to Kabeho, the suspect instructed his wife to prepare the meal immediately as he was hungry. However, the wife was met with a rude shock upon discovering pieces of a human being. She raised an alarm, attracting neighbors.

The neighbors gathered at the home and found the body parts, which they identified as belonging to the suspect’s nephew. They apprehended him and handed him over to the police, who are currently holding him in Ntungamo District.

The suspect is reported to have recurring mental health issues that have led to his hospitalization since 2020. He was occasionally taken to churches for prayers, and family members say he had recovered during those periods.

“He developed mental issues three years ago and was taken to the hospital. He recovered and returned home, but he continued to exhibit signs of mental illness. His family says he had recovered at the time,” Kabeho stated.
