Man stabbed to death as he tried to stop a neighbour from beating his wife in Huruma

Police have launched investigations after a 29-year-old man was stabbed and killed as he tried to stop a fight between a couple in Huruma, Nairobi.

The victim, who was identified as John Olando Ambwaye was stabbed in the neck and bled to death during the Tuesday October 29, 2024 afternoon incident.

According to a police report, Ambwaye was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment but was declared dead on arrival at the medical facility.

His neighbours, a husband and wife, were fighting when he tried to prevent the man from harming the woman. 

According to eyewitnesses, the husband had hit and floored his wife during the confrontation as Ambwaye tried to intervene.

Witnesses told police that the husband was annoyed by Ambwaye’s intervention as he picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed him in the neck.

The suspect escaped from the scene immediately after committing the crime. 

DCI detectives visited the scene of crime soon after the incident and launched a manhunt for the suspect.

The body of the victim was moved to Nairobi city mortuary pending autopsy. 

Meanwhile, the injured woman was taken to a nearby clinic where she was treated and discharged.
