Police in Alego Usonga, Siaya County, are investigating an incident where a 60-year-old man was killed by a mob after he allegedly stabbed his wife to death.
Bernard Odweso is said to have attacked his 55-year-old wife Pamela Anyango on Sunday, July 7 afternoon, following a disagreement over KSh30.
Confirming the incident, Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo says that Samuel Ouma — a relative to the deceased — reported the matter at Siaya Police Station.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that at the time of the incident, Odweso was at their Nyalula village home together with his wife, their 22-year-old daughter Vida Odweson and 24-year-old son.
But all hell broke loose when the wife suspected her husband had taken the KSh30 meant for church offering.
An incensed Odweso would grab a kitchen knife, stab his wife severally, killing her on the spot. The daughter was able to escape the wrath of her father.
The son tried to intervene and save his mother but his father would stab him on the neck and leg.
It is at this point that members of the public responded and cornered Odweso, beating him to death.
He was rushed to Siaya County Referral Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
