Manchester United’s Ruben Amorim dislikes fan chant in his name

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has expressed discomfort with one of the chants sung by the club’s supporters in his honor.

Ahead of United’s high-stakes clash against Arsenal, Amorim explained his reservations about the chant, emphasizing that fans should focus their cheers on the players and the club rather than himself.

United supporters have been chanting Amorim’s name to the tune of “Baby Give It Up” by KC and the Sunshine Band, a gesture that the coach feels misdirects the spotlight.

“I don’t like my chant,” Amorim said during Monday’s press conference. “I feel a little bit… not embarrassed, but because I’m the coach, they should chant for the players and the club. It’s not a good thing for me.”

While the Portuguese tactician appreciates the fans’ connection and support, he underscored the importance of backing the players on the pitch.

“I really appreciate the connection with the supporters, but I want them to support the team and the players. They are the ones on the pitch. I’m on the sidelines. That said, I’m truly honored by the chant and the bond with the fans, but we know results are key to maintaining that.”

Amorim’s Start at Manchester United

Ruben Amorim has made a promising start to life at Old Trafford since his appointment. Under his guidance, Manchester United has secured two wins from three matches.

The Red Devils opened with a 1-1 draw against Ipswich in the Premier League, followed by a commanding Europa League victory over Bodo/Glimt. On Sunday, they delivered an emphatic 3-0 win against Everton, a result that propelled them to ninth in the Premier League table, just four points adrift of the top four.

Upcoming Arsenal Test

Amorim now faces a tough test as his team travels to North London for a midweek Premier League showdown against Arsenal. The match presents an opportunity for Manchester United to continue their resurgence and further climb the league standings.

With Amorim’s focus on team unity and results, Manchester United supporters may soon find more reasons to cheer for the players who represent the club on the pitch.
