A 50-year-old man was reportedly murdered on Tuesday, August 6 in what police in Yatta, Machakos County, are treating as a love triangle gone wrong.

The victim is said to have died on the spot after being struck on the head with a hoe handle during a confrontation with another man.

Authorities have launched a manhunt for the 34-year-old suspect, who is believed to have fled the scene immediately after the incident.

“We have launched a manhunt for the 34-year-old man who went into hiding after allegedly committing the crime,” a police officer told The Star.

Witnesses reported that the confrontation escalated quickly, leading to the fatal blow that claimed the victim’s life.

A 41-year-old woman, who was reportedly dating both men, is currently being interrogated by the police. She was present during the incident and is said to have been escorting the deceased when they encountered the suspect. She’s a key figure in the ongoing investigation, as authorities seek to piece together the events leading up to the tragic confrontation.

The police have moved the victim’s body to Komboni Mission Mortuary, where it awaits an autopsy.

The police are urging anyone with information about the suspect’s whereabouts to come forward, they are committed to ensuring that justice is served.
