Mbeere South MP Nebart Muriuki has reiterated that the Mbeere Community that has been marginalized since independence cannot afford to reject the Finance Bill, 2024.
Speaking at Kiritiri on Sunday, June 23, MP Muriuki noted that for the first time the Government has allocated money to provide water and tarmac roads in the constituency.
The lawmaker warned young Kenyans (Gen Z) who have staged protests countrywide against the Bill, saying that they cannot understand the suffering people of Mbeere have gone through.
“Unajua Gen Z haijui vile akina mama wamesumbuka wakitafuta maji. Hi budget ina pesa ya maji ya Mbeere South, tumewekewa KSh250 million, tukiongeza na KSh130 million niliyokuwa nimeomba,” MP Muriuki said.
Muriuki, who was elected as an independent candidate, defended his “Yes Vote” at the National Assembly saying the Mbeere people will gain a lot and therefore rejecting it is tantamount to rejecting the development projects dearly needed by his people.
“Watu wakisema nipige No, wanasema niende nikatupe KSh380 million. Barabara ya kutoka hapa Kiritiri kuenda Kiambere, tumeomba miaka ngapi? Nyingi sana! Hii ndiyo budget ya kwanza kutupa hii barabara,” he added.
He urged parents to talk to their children affiliated to the Gen Z revolution saying those who will be injured or suffer will do so individually and therefore every parent should take care of his or her own child.
