The case in which Maxine Muringo Wahome, a celebrated rally driver, is accused of the murder of his boyfriend, Asad Manzour Khan, continued Wednesday, September 27.

During today’s court proceedings, the prosecution presented their first and second witnesses.

Chemutai Sogomo Kipkorir, the deceased’s former neighbour, and Hassan Wesonga Oyugi, the security guard at Preston Court, narrated to the court what transpired on the day Khan sustained serious injuries on his right leg.

“From the time I moved in that house the two used to fight… sometimes in a month I would not hear anything and sometimes I would hear it twice a week,” Chemutai testified.

Maxine Wahome, a rally driver, has been charged with the murder of her boyfriend Asad Khan, a fellow rally driver. She, however, insists that she is the victim of a man who had violent tendencies. A neighbour of Asad, Chemutai Sogomo Kipkorir, has indeed told the court that the late Asad was violent to his previous girlfriends.

A fight on material day?

On this particular day (12th Dec. 20220, Chemutai told the court she was in her house when she heard commotion from Khan’s house.

“When he was yelling I heard… ‘Get out of my house’ then I heard the lady crying… I went to my living room and used my house intercom to call the guard.

“Thereafter the commotion stopped for about five minutes and then the commotion started again. I heard sounds of a struggle that’s what I could hear,” Chemutai continued in her testimony.

It was at this point that Chemutai says she called 911 and the Kileleshwa Association Chairperson.

Asad Khan…a violent man?

“I heard someone saying Kalulu…Kalulu (Asad) what has happened…I went to my balcony window and I could see neighbors and the chairman. They brought him down and took him outside as one of the neighbours brought a car. I was seeing all this from my balcony. I could see he was covered with blood and could see they were pressing one of the leg.”

When she was cross-examined by defence counsel on Khan’s temper, Chemutai said this;

“I knew he had a violent temper. Before Maxine …the ex girlfriend was also subjected to violence. There would be an argument but those ladies would leave.”

The prosecution — led by Sarah Ogweno, Allen Mulama, Roselyne Tum, and Dela Wilbey – will be calling 17 more witnesses in the case.

Wahome has been charged with the murder of Khan. On 12th December 2022 at Preston Court along Oloitoktok Road in Kilimani Sub-County, it reported that Khan suffered injuries that eventually led to his demise on December 19, 2022.
