Former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has joined the chorus of leaders and dignitaries extending birthday wishes to President William Ruto on his 57th birthday.

In a social media post, Sonko, a close associate of President Ruto, conveyed his well wishes with a video montage featuring pictures of them together, accompanied by background music.

While expressing his desire for President Ruto to have a prosperous life, he couldn’t resist injecting a playful note into his message.

He cheekily prayed that Kenya’s current leader would enjoy a lengthy rule, drawing a parallel to the late President Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi, who governed the country for an impressive 24 years from 1978 to 2002.

“Happy birthday, Mr. President. May God bless you with a long life filled with love, peace, and happiness! May your leadership endure in Kenya, akin to the tenure of former President Moi,” Sonko conveyed in a tweet.

In October 2023, Sonko offered alcohol worth over one million shillings as a birthday gift to retired President Uhuru Kenyatta as he marked 62 years and his second birthday anniversary since leaving state house.

“I have gifted him with a cake, card, and some finest drinks as a sign of missing the happy good days we used to spend together before and after he became president,” Sonko said.
