A young man from Narok, Francis Memusi, has been given a second chance at life after suffering a life-threatening injury during last year’s Gen Z demonstrations.
His survival was made possible through the intervention of Mbagathi Hospital. Francis, the son of Millicent Naipanoi, sustained a severe respiratory pipe injury amid the chaos of the protests, leaving him unable to breathe properly.
His condition rapidly deteriorated, and he was rushed to Tenwek Hospital, where he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
He remained in a coma for an extended period and was hospitalized for a grueling three months as doctors fought to stabilize him.

As medical bills mounted, the family faced a daunting financial crisis. A referral to Kenyatta National Hospital was recommended, but without the necessary funds, the transfer was impossible.
Desperate for help, Millicent sought assistance from the Narok County offices but found no support. Determined to save her son, she turned to Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, pleading for intervention.
Moved by her plight, Governor Sakaja responded swiftly, mobilizing efforts to ensure Francis received the medical care he needed.
Through his coordination with Mbagathi Hospital CEO, arrangements were made to secure a Montgomery tube—an essential medical device for Francis’s treatment.

The specialized equipment had to be imported from the United States, a process that the Governor personally facilitated.
In an emotional ceremony at Mbagathi Hospital, Millicent received the life-saving Montgomery tube from the hospital’s CEO.
Overcome with gratitude, she praised the Governor and the medical team for their unwavering support, calling the moment a miracle.
Tears of relief marked the occasion as Millicent dedicated Psalm 41:1-2 to Governor Sakaja, quoting: “Blessed is the one who considers the poor! In the day of trouble, the Lord delivers him; the Lord protects him and keeps him alive.”
As Francis continues his journey to recovery, his mother’s faith in humanity has been renewed, thanks to the compassion of those who stepped in when it mattered most.
