Mbappe likely to wear a mask for the rest of the 2024 Euro competition

France men’s national team coach Didier Deschamps has given an update on his captain Kylian Mbappe’s status after he broke his nose.

The injury occurred during France’s win over Austria in their opening game of the 2024 UEFA European Championship.

According to the French football governing body their captain will continue to receive treatment and not undergo surgery, and a mask will be made for him. The new Real Madrid signing endured a frustrating night as France laboured to victory against Austria.

The France captain’s drought at the European Championship was extended after failing to score on Monday night. Mbappe’s night ended after he suffered a broken nose late in the match and was replaced by Olivier Giroud.

Mbappe is arguably France’s most important player in this tournament, and he would be a big miss if he’s not fit for their next game against the Netherlands.

France’s captain and Real Madrid’s latest “Galactico” was replaced in the 90th minute as an eventful night ended with him covered in blood following a painful blow to his nose after an aerial clash with Austria defender Kevin Danso.

Mbappe also picked up a yellow card for returning to the field before falling to the ground, then going off.

Meanwhile Mbappe took to his official handle on X (formerly known as Twitter) to respond jokingly to the situation.

” Any ideas for a mask. asked Mbappe on in X handle.

The France international was trolled by fans on social media after asking for a mask, with an old video and picture showing him wearing a turtle mask.
