Mbappe plans to use ‘World Cup hangover’ to inspire France to win the 2024 Euro

French football star Kylian Mbappe admits that he still craves more trophies despite already having won the World Cup, the most coveted trophy, at the age of 18.

However, despite the World Cup and the Golden Boot, he is yet to win a Champions League at the club level, a Ballon d’Or at a personal level, and a Euro title with the French national football team.

Next on his list of trophies is the Euro, and with France heading into the competition as one of the favorites, based not only on recent success on the global stage but also on a squad boasting an almost immeasurable level of talent and depth throughout.

Mbappe is poised to win the Golden Boot at the intercontinental showpiece.

Speaking to CNN, Mbappe expressed his desire to clinch the Euro 2024 title with Les Bleus on German soil.

“I want to win the Euros. I have to be honest,” he said.

“I won the World Cup. I won the Nations League. That’s the only one that has eluded me with the national team after I did everything with the national team.

“I really want to win this. It’s my first competition as captain, so it’s really important for me, and it’s always important for the country. We want them to be proud of us.

“[It’s] another opportunity to write the history of my country.”

The 25 year-old is not oblivious of the huge task ahead ,he insists France will be going about its business one game at a time.

“Everybody knows how tough it is to win the Euros because all the teams are very strong,” he said.

“We can see the group that we have … It’s like something crazy!

“We have to go step-by-step because it’s going to be really difficult, but we are ready for that.”

As it stands, Mbappé’s sole focus this summer is on chasing European glory.

The prospect, though, of representing his country at the Olympics in his home city of Paris remains a tantalizing possibility – this despite the Parisian being left out of coach Thierry Henry’s provisional 25-man preliminary squad for the Games.
