Mbappe reports PSG to UEFA over three-month unpaid salary dispute

French forward and current Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe has taken legal action against his former club, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), for allegedly delaying the payment of his final three months’ salary while at the Ligue 1 club. Mbappe is determined to secure the owed amount, indicating his resolve to pursue every last Euro from PSG.

The French superstar is still awaiting payment for the final three months of his contract with PSG, a situation that seems headed for a legal showdown.

PSG contends that they are not obligated to pay the full amount, citing a verbal agreement in which Mbappe allegedly agreed not to leave the club on a free transfer and to forgo part of his remaining salary before the contract expired, as reported by Football Espana.

However, Mbappe’s representatives have firmly denied the existence of any such agreement and have taken formal steps to resolve the issue.

Reports suggest that Mbappe was not compensated for April, May, and June of his contract, along with part of an €80 million signing bonus.

According to Mundo Deportivo, his legal team has reached out to key football governing bodies, including the LFP (Ligue de Football Professionnel), FFF (French Football Federation), and UEFA, claiming that he is owed €55 million. This figure includes the missed payments and an additional ‘ethical bonus.’

As per Madrid Zone, the LFP holds the authority to impose significant sanctions on PSG, which could include halting their transfer activities until the matter is resolved.

The situation could further escalate, with PSG at risk of losing their UEFA license for the upcoming season, potentially jeopardizing their participation in the 2024/25 Champions League.

For PSG, the stakes are not only financial but could also impact their ability to compete at the highest level in European football.

Meanwhile, Kylian Mbappe recently opened up on social media after making his La Liga debut for Real Madrid.

Reflecting on the match, he expressed his disappointment with the result but ended on a positive note with a spirited “Hala Madrid,” signalling his determination to succeed in Spain’s top flight.
