MC Gogo recalls embarrassing moment on stage when a female fan grabbed him

Franklin Mark Gogo, also known as MC Gogo, has gained widespread recognition in Kenya’s entertainment industry.

Many people have been won over by the 22-year-old Counselling and Sociology student’s energetic emceeing, but his road to fame has not been without its highs and lows.

Gogo said in a conversation with Phil Director that he started emceeing at the church when he was around 17 years old. He soon accepted the internet sphere and eventually transitioned to emceeing weddings.

MC Gogo’s Breakthrough

While the lockdown period of 2020 posed many difficulties, it signaled a turning point in MC Gogo’s career.

He began by posting his work on Facebook, which helped him draw in a larger following. However, what really propelled him into the spotlight was a video he posted on TikTok.

Gogo offered his trademark funny remarks in this popular video, and viewers connected with the message.

In just 24 hours, the video received over one million views. He made the decision to concentrate on creating material that connected with his audience after realizing the possibilities of this platform.

Embarrassing Moments

Despite his quick ascent to popularity, MC Gogo has faced challenges along the way.

He remembered a memorable but difficult incident that occurred during a concert in Eldoret when a persistent spectator interfered with his performance by tightly gripping him.

She tried to hurl a glass at MC Gogo after the security dragged her out of the venue, but her plan fell through.

“Eldoret inakuanga na stage fulani hivi juu. Sijui security walilala aje kidogo then a girl akapanda juu. Akapita akanishikilia na nyuma. Nikajaribu kumgeuza I say hi coz unajua ukiwa zone mtu akuje akudistrupt unapoteza flow.

(There is a certain club in Eldoret with a weird podium. I think security lowered their guard for a bit and a female fan went up the stage and grabbed me from behind. I tried urging her to turn around so I could say hi because it was already awkward but security came in and pulled her.)

“So security wakakam but akakaza grip. Wakamtoa mkono mmoja but the other one akanishika mkono akatighten grip. Wakamtoa akashuka nikadhani story imesisha. Mi naendelea kupiga show nikaskia tu kitu imeanguka chini! This lady alienda akachukua ile glass ya maji alikuwa anatumia akanitupia. Mpaka nashindwa sasa mimi nimemafanyia nini,

(When they caught her she tightened her grip on my arm. They managed to disentangle her and she was pulled off the podium and I thought I should go on with my performance. Moments later I heard glass shuttering. Apparently, she took her glass of water and threw it my way. I wondered what I’d done to deserve that),” he said.
