MCA nursing gunshot wound after attack by unknown assailants in Isiolo

An MCA from Isiolo County is nursing gunshot wound after he was attacked by unknown assailants on Wednesday, March 26 evening.

Burat Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) Nicholas Lorot was shot in the arm by the assailants near Northern Galaxy Hotel in Isiolo Town over unclear circumstances.

The outspoken MCA was rushed to St. Theresa Mission Hospital in Kiirua, Meru County where he is receiving treatment.

Isiolo Governor Abdi Guyo on Thursday, March 27 morning condemned the incident, calling upon authorities to expedite investigations to bring the perpetrators to book.

“I wish Hon. Lorot a speedy recovery as he continues to receive treatment. My thoughts and prayers are with him, his family, and the people of Burat Ward during this difficult time,” Governor Guyo said on X.

He added: “We remain committed to upholding law and order in Isiolo, and such acts of violence will not be tolerated.”

He is also actively involved in advocating for community land rights, which has often seen him engage in heated disputes with both county officials and private developers.

While the motive behind the attack remains unclear, the incident has sparked speculation among residents and leaders, with some calling for a thorough investigation into whether the shooting was politically motivated.
