In a dramatic turn of events in Machakos County, Muthwani Ward MCA Dominic Maitha has once again vowed to push for the impeachment of Governor Wavinya Ndeti, citing serious allegations of nepotism, illegal hiring, and corruption.
Speaking at the Mlolongo Chiefs’ ground during a bursary issuance event on Thursday, Maitha said that the Governor’s days in office are numbered.
“Since you have refused to listen to us, next week I will sponsor an impeachment motion against you,” he said.
Accompanied by fellow MCAs Daniel Ndwiki and Francis Kavyu, Maitha expressed his discontent over Wavinya’s management of the county’s budget, pointing out that her decisions have driven recurrent expenditures to a staggering 60%, well above the stipulated 35%. “We cannot stand by while our county resources are mismanaged. It’s time for accountability,” he declared.
Maitha did not hold back in his criticism, asserting that Governor Ndeti has disregarded the advisory from the county assembly on the hiring of unnecessary personnel, a move they believe is draining vital funds from essential services.
He also flagged the controversial Machakos Youth Service (MYS), initially budgeted at Ksh.800 million, as a glaring example of mismanagement running without the proper legislative framework.
Maitha also alleged that Wavinya is attempting to rally support to unseat County Assembly Speaker Ann Kiusya, a maneuver he warns could backfire. “It’s Wavinya who will be leaving office first if she continues on this path,” he warned, signaling a clash that could reshape the political landscape in Machakos.
