McTominay scores twice as Man United beat Chelsea

SportsWORLD

Scott McTominay once again proved to be the hero for Manchester United as they secured a well-deserved 2-1 victory over Chelsea at Old Trafford.

McTominay’s two goals, one before and one after the break were crucial for the Red Devils, who faced a brief setback when Cole Palmer scored for Chelsea.

Despite the temporary equalizer, Manchester United ended the match on a high note, much to the delight of their enthusiastic supporters.

Following his lackluster performance against Newcastle United, Marcus Rashford lost his spot in the starting lineup, and Reece James only made the bench for Chelsea after returning from a ban.

Erik ten Hag’s strategic changes had an immediate impact, with a motivated Manchester United launching attacks and Rasmus Hojlund nearly scoring in the fourth minute, only to be denied by a save from Robert Sanchez.

In the 19th minute, Alejandro Garnacho’s clever play set up Harry Maguire, whose shot was blocked, but McTominay capitalized on the rebound with a well-executed volley.

Despite Chelsea’s counter-attacks, they did not manage to find the equalizer until the 45th minute when Cole Palmer found the far corner with a precise strike.

The second half saw defensive changes for both teams, but McTominay once again stole the spotlight in the 69th minute. He met Garnacho’s cross with a powerful header, securing the lead for Manchester United.

The Red Devils have risen to sixth place 27 points after 15 matches thanks to their ninth win of the campaign while Chelsea who suffered a sixth defeat of their league season remain 10th with 19 points.
