Gospel artiste Mercy Masika has aired out her concerns about modern fashion trends.
She specifically addressed young girls and pastors. According to Masika, it is okay to go with the evolving trends but modesty should be key.
“Fashion may change, modesty and decency should always remain constant, aligning God’s standards,” said Masika.
Masika reflected on the society’s laxity on modesty and decency.
“Young girls, it looks like fashion is changing, but modesty is still modesty, and decency is decency. God’s standards are up,” wrote Masika on her Instagram.
She disclosed that she was playing her role as a parent to educate her children on the same.
The Masika revealed that she read scripture to her children that emphasized on the importance of modesty and decency.
Pastors
She urged pastors to act like role models to the youth asserting that some were indecent.
“I am even seeing pastors, people we respect, posing half-naked. I am like, ‘What happened?'”
Adding, “older pastors never used to do that. Is it that there is no more decency, or has scripture changed?”
She referred to the indecency as a tool of the devil to sabotage the younger generation especially with body-revealing clothes.
Short clothes in church
Masika specifically condemned believers who wear shoe=rt dresses to church deeming it embarrassing.
“The word decency and modesty have not changed. The standards of the Bible have not changed. It is like people want to be Beyonce,” she noted.
“Some pastors pose with those swimming costumes. Do you need to show the world your body? Is it necessary? Keep private things private.”
