On his popular TV show Dr. Ofweneke Tonight, on TV47, comedian and TV host Dr Ofweneke opened up about how Uncle Konaya’s Merimela song helped him.
The entertainer, known for his humorous and candid personality, shared this story with his audience, sparking laughter and nostalgia during the show.
Dr. Ofweneke recounted how, as a young boy, the lyrics of the song Merimela left a lasting impression on him, shaping his perceptions about relationships and girls.
“There are two things that used to scare us, one was the insha ya mdokezo, where you’re given a few sentences and then asked to write a story with an appropriate title.” Said Dr. Ofweneke
“When we were still teenagers, nothing scared us like that insha and the Merimela song.
“Personally, the hit song Merimela helped me to maintain my virginity.
“By the time the song was coming to an end, that’s when I lost my virginity.
“Yeah, Merimela helped me maintain my virginity as a young man because I knew girls are bad, girls are dangerous and girls will kill me.”
According to Ofweneke the song Merimela, a popular tune at the time, seemed to resonate with him at a deeper level than most of his peers.
As he grew up, the comedian maintained a distance from romantic relationships, largely influenced by what he described as the song’s warning message.
Dr Ofweneke’s playful admission delighted his audience, many of whom could relate to the way music from their childhood had impacted their lives.
Though his account was delivered with his trademark humour, it highlighted the influence of pop culture and music on young minds.
The revelation drew applause and cheers from the audience, as Dr. Ofweneke continued to reflect on how music has the power to shape perceptions, even in the most unexpected ways.
As he transitioned into other segments of the show, the comedian left viewers both entertained and reflective, reminding them of the amusing ways in which certain moments from their youth could influence the course of their lives.
Dr. Ofweneke’s show continues to captivate audiences with its unique blend of comedy, personal stories, and engaging interviews, with this latest confession adding yet another memorable moment to his growing list of highlights on Dr. Ofweneke Tonight on TV47.
