Meru: 28-year-old woman stabbed to death during a fight in a bar

A 28-year-old woman, identified as Karimi Wangi, was stabbed to death during a fight at a bar in Chuka, Meru County on Monday August 5, 2024.

According to the police, the suspect who was known to the victim, fled the scene immediately after committing the crime.

The woman’s body was discovered by security personnel at the pub several hours after the attack.

Police found Wangi’s body with a severe stab wound on the left side of her neck, as they launched a manhunt for the suspect.

Preliminary reports indicate that she was with her boyfriend when an altercation broke out, leading to the suspect stabbing her before escaping.

The exact reason for the fight remains unclear.

The body has been taken to Chuka County Referral Hospital for an autopsy, as police interrogate witnesses and club staff to further the investigations.

In a related case from Murungurune in Meru County, police are looking into the death of 41-year-old Douglas Mutethia Mba, who is believed to have taken his own life.

In a separate incident, police are investigating the murder of Kezia Kigei, a 28-year-old woman who was a bar attendant in Mathare slums, Nairobi.

Her body was found outside a shop in the Kosovo area of Mathare slums, Nairobi.

The discovery was made by locals several hours after her death on the evening of Monday, July 8.

The body, which showed signs of a swollen neck, was reported by residents who contacted the police.

Nairobi police chief Adamson Bungei indicated that they believe the murder took place at another location before the body was left at the scene.

Kigei had gone to work in Mathare 4B on Sunday evening but did not return home as expected, according to her family.
