National NewsNews

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has given the greenlight for two suspects to be charged with murder in the case of Meru blogger Daniel Muthiani alias Sniper.

In a statement, the DPP said the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) had concluded their probe and presented an inquiry file.

“Upon thorough analysis of the facts, the DPP is satisfied that there is sufficient evidence to sustain the charge of murder against Vincent Muriithi alias Supuu and Murangiri Kenneth Guantai alias Tali,” read part of their statement.

To this effect, the two will be arraigned at the Kiambu Law Courts “for the offence of murder contrary to Section 203 as read with Section 204 of the Penal Code”.

As for the other four suspects, the DPP filed a miscellaneous application before the Kibera Law Courts.

Her husband and sister underwent grilling at the DCI offices in Meru over the weekend regarding the mysterious murder of Meru blogger Sniper.

Taking to social media on Tuesday, January 16, Governor Mwangaza stated that the truth will come out soon.

“Calm in the midst of the storm. Lies can travel halfway around the world while the truth is putting on shoes. We Shall Overcome Gloriously With God’s Grace!” the county boss wrote.

Meru blogger lured to his death?

A funeral service was held on Friday, January 5 for the Meru blogger whose body was found Mutonga River in Tharaka Nithi County on December 16.

He had been reported as a missing person on December 2.

According to a postmortem investigation done by government pathologist Johansen Oduor at the Marimanti Level 4 Hospital Mortuary in Tharaka Nithi, Meru County, it was discovered that Sniper was strangled to death.

The examination of the body showed there were no defence injuries thus raising questions on whether he was subdued to a level where he could not defend himself.
