Social media was abuzz for the better part of Monday after a video of church elder collapsing to death emerged.
The deceased, Rtd Elder Eng Kenneth Kungu Wainaina, collapsed moments before he passed away, while addressing the church based in Ruiru, Kiambu County.
He is said to have developed a heart attack which turned fatal within moments on Sunday, May 19, 2024.
In the 1 minute 24 seconds video, Elder Wainaina was heard reminding the church about its vision as it nears its 19th anniversary.
“We came to this place in the year 2005 on June 19. We are only one month less than 19 years. Our vision was to be the first Christian in the…” the elderly man said before he stuttered and went quiet for a moment.
A woman was heard screaming just before the retired church leader slowly lost grip but was caught by lay leaders behind him just before he fell on the ground.
In an obituary published on Friday, May 24, his family revealed the deceased was 67 years old. He was born in 1957.
“With deep sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will, we the family announce the passing of Rtd. Elder Eng. Kenneth Kungu Wainaina on 19th May 2024,” read part of the obituary.
