Messi-less Inter Miami loses to Houston in the US Open Cup finals

Lionel Messi missed out on the final match of the US Open Cup pitting his club and Houston Dynamo FC who won by 2-1.

Messi who has played a key role in the rise of Inter Miami since his arrival from French league side has been suffer from a scar tissue problem from an old injury.

This has dealt a major blow to his team mates and fans at Inter Miami when the World Cup winner did not show up for the very if not Crucial match.

Messi has been away for the last four matches in the MSL and for Argentina after he complained of “not feeling well” in the world cup qualifiers against Ecuador.

However Upon his return to the United State the Argentine forward who is a go to for every game only managed to play 37 minutes in their match against Toronto FC.

Despite not being able to play Messi turned up for his team alongside his wife and kids to show support .

Miami struggled greatly without him in the first half, going into half time 2-0.

Nonetheless they improved in the second half but Josef Martinez’s 90th minute goal proved to be nothing more than a consolation and the team were beaten 2-1 by Houston.

Even though it was evident that the seven time Ballon D’or winner would not play as he was not in training for the match teams and fans hoped for a miracle appearance.
