Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies striker Miche Minnies has finally addressed comparisons drawn between her and former Brazil international Ronaldinho that claimed the former Barcelona midfielder is her father.

During the 2023 CAF Women’s Champions League COSAFA qualifiers held in Durban, a photograph of the 21-year-old began trending on social media, with people highlighting similarities in her appearance and even some aspects of their playing style with Ronaldinho.

“You are making me laugh now. I remember it was all over social media and I was like ‘me and this guy, we don’t look the same’ and people were like ‘no, you look alike’,” Minnies started off in an interview with South African newspaper iDiski Times.

The former Vasco Da Gama Ladies forward humourously dismissed the claims stating that she doesn’t believe they resemble each other, and she is certain that Ronaldinho is not her father.

“But what I can say is that sometimes God works in a mysterious way. So you don’t know maybe I can get something out of him and he can maybe boost me to get me things like a team, you understand, but he is not my father (laughs),” she said.

Miche Minnies also expressed her admiration for Ronaldinho’s exceptional footballing skills and mentioned her interest in meeting him in person.

She acknowledged the comparisons related to their playing styles but emphasized that the other aspects were not true.

“He [my father] was like, ‘No, that is my child! How can they say that she’s Ronaldinho’s child? Ja and some people told me, ‘don’t take it like personally and seriously because it is just talk’,” she said.
