Radio presenter Mike Mondo, who is currently in a blended family, has advised couples to develop cordial relationships with their partners’ exes.
Mondo announced in a local interview that he and his lover Shiko Nguru are officially engaged.
The radio presenter has two children from two previous relationships, while Shiko Nguru has three children with two different fathers.
According to Mike Mondo, it is unsustainable to be fighting with your partner’s ex as it affects the children almost always.
“For anyone who is in a blended family, you better learn how to like the person in your ex’s life. Let us be honest,” he began.
Mondo, who has been in wrangles with Nguru’s immediate former husband Ramadhani Oluoch alias Ramzzy, said it would benefit the children if they would have a sit down and iron out their issues.
“In my case, the said gentleman would sit down with me, and we can form a certain way of understanding how this situation can be managed…
“Where the children are involved, where Shiko is involved, even if he tells me he’s stuck somewhere and I come through for him I would do it. We build a cordial understanding for the benefit of the kids,” he explained.
Mondo shared experiences within his family where some relatives have developed good relationships with their former partners for the sake of the children.
“If it is going to be a situation of hostile attack all the time, till when? It is the children who are going to suffer,” he explained.
In January this year, Ramzzy sent a demand letter to Mike Mondo, asking him to delete all photos featuring his children on social media as he was not the children’s father.
“Our client instructs us that after parting ways with the mother to his children, you took the bold step of picking up from where he left and he commends you for that.
“However, he instructs us that with time you developed an aura of pettiness and overstepped your boundaries as a boyfriend to the mother of his children and even had the audacity to start posting photos of his children online,” the letter read in part.
