The family of the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) General Francis Omondi Ogolla has confirmed that he will be buried on Sunday, April 21.
This, the family says, is in line with CDF Ogolla’s wish of being buried within 72 hours of his death.
He will be laid to rest at his home in Ng’iya village, Siaya County.
The Ministry of Defence says that General Ogolla will be laid to rest in line with the established military protocols.
A post-mortem examination was conducted on Friday, April 19 at 11 am at the Mashujaa Funeral Home at the Defence Forces Memorial Hospital.
In a statement seen by TV47 Digital, Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale says that in accordance with military procedures, the Military Honours ceremony will be conducted on Saturday, April 20 at the Ulinzi Sports Complex in Lang’ata from 1 pm.
The honours will include a church service, military parade and a 19-gun salute.
President William Ruto, in his capacity as the Commander in Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces, will attend the ceremony.
Other high-profile persons who will attend the ceremont at Ulinzi Sports Complex include; Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, Senior Government officials, the leadership of Parliament, the Judiciary, political leaders, commanders of the security sector and members of the Diplomatic Corps.
The following day (Sunday, April 21), the body of General Ogolla will be airlifted to Ng’iya village in Alego Usonga Sub-County for burial on the same day.
This, of course, will be proceeded by a church service at his local church in Nduru.
Additionally, a memorial service will be held on Friday, April 26 at the Ulinzi Sports Complex in line with the wishes of the family.
