The Ministry of Sports through the Kenya Sports Academy has launched its third sports academy in Elgeyo Marakwet County, which is a hub for many players in the country.
Speaking at the launch of the academy at St. Patricks Boys High School Iten, Kenya Academy of Sports Chief Executive Officer Dr. Doreen Odhiambo said the project will take one and a half years to complete at a cost of KSh55 million.
She also added that the government will build sports academies in 47 counties before the end of 2027, a move that the county leaders led by Governor Wisely Rotich and Keiyo North MP Adams Kipsanai have said will go a long way in uplifting and improving the sports sector in the county which is the ‘County of Champions’.
