The Ministry of Health has stopped the use and distribution of Tamedol Oral Solution (Paracetamol Oral Solution, 120mg/5ml, 60 mls) after receiving numerous complaints.
Through the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB), the Ministry is now advising Kenyans to return the product to the nearest healthcare facility.
“In response to these concerns, the PPB upon investigations, indeed confirmed that the product FAILED to meet the prescribed market authorisation requirements and has initiated mandatory recal of the product,” the PPB says in a statement on Wednesday, September 20.
Consequently, the board is now advising all pharmaceutical outlets, healthcare facilities, healthcare professionals and members of the public to take to take action immediately.
“Stop all further distribution, sale, issuing or use of Tamedol oral solution…healthcare facilities are instructed to return the products to their respective suppliers,” PPB continues.
The board is further urging the public to remain vigilant at all times and promptly report any suspected cases of sub-standard medicines or adverse drug reactions to the nearest health facility or the board itself.
