A one-and-a-half-year-old girl escaped death by a whisker after she fell into a 50-feet pit latrine in Sindi Kivuluba village, Mukono District in Uganda.
The girl is said to have accidentally fallen into the latrine on Saturday, October 7 while attempting to relieve herself.
However, the caretaker realised that the girl had overstayed in the toilet. Upon checking, he realised that she had fallen.
“The caretaker made a report to police The timely response and effective actions of our rescue team played a crucial role in saving the little girl’s life,” the Ssezibwa Regional Police Spokesperson Hellen Butoto said.
Authorities lauded!
The Fire Brigade and Rescue Services in Kayunga has since been lauded by both the police and residents for taking swift action in saving the girl.
After he rescue, she was rushed to Kayunga Regional Referral Hospital for thorough medical attention.
“We express our sincere appreciation to the rescue team for their unwavering commitment and quick response, ensuring a positive outcome in this challenging rescue mission,” the Uganda Police Force says in a statement.
