Liverpool star Mohamed Salah is once again at odds with a section of Muslims after posting a picture of him and his family in front of a Christmas tree.
The Egyptian, a Muslim, captioned the photo “#MerryChristmas”, to the dismay of his Muslim followers.
As is his tradition now every Christmas day, Salaha, his wife Magi and daughters Makka and Kayan posed in matching pajamas, smiling in front of the tree.
Salah is in his eighth year at Liverpool, and together with his wife, he has been raising their daughters who are 10 and 4 years.
United Kingdom is a predominantly Christian country, and it seems Salah — who is no doubt a devoted Muslim — wants his kids to enjoy Christmas while learning about other faiths.
Several Liverpool stars, past and present, liked the post, including Jordan Henderson, Dejan Lovren, Fabinho, Kostas Tsimikas, Harvey Elliott, Alexis Mac Allister, and Cody Gakpo.
So superficial were the comments that some suggested that Liverpool form always dips shortly after Salah’s annual Christmas message.
One Arsenal fan commented: “Liverpool downfall incoming,” and a Manchester City supporter said: “He’s done it again! The title race is on!”
