Moi Girls Sindo High School in Suba South Sub-County, Homa Bay County, is facing a severe lack of clean water and electricity, threatening the education and well-being of over 1,500 students.
The situation is particularly concerning given that the school’s proximity to Lake Victoria is just about one kilometer.
School principal Florence Omondi expressed deep concern over the crisis, stating that the school is forced to spend a lot of money purchasing water. She said this situation gives them sleepless nights and the girls cannot live in such conditions.
Emanuel Odhiambo, the computer studies supervisor, highlighted that frequent power outages have made it difficult to effectively teach computer studies. He said apart from the water crisis, the electricity issue is also a major setback.
The ongoing challenges pose a serious risk to students’ education and overall school operations, with stakeholders calling for urgent intervention from authorities.
