Detectives in Mombasa have apprehended a key suspect involved in drug trafficking, seizing narcotics believed to be heroin with an estimated value of Ksh3.5 million.
In an official statement, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) revealed that Benta Akinyi Ogola, the accused, was apprehended through a collaborative effort between the Transnational Organized Crime Unit (TOCU) stationed in Mombasa and the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) in Malindi.
“A Transnational Organized Crime Cartel has been dealt a blow following the arrest of one of their actors namely Benta Akinyi Ogola and subsequent recovery of narcotic drugs suspected to be heroin with a street value of Ksh3,540,000,” DCI stated.

The officers while acting on intelligence leads intercepted the suspect who was carrying a brown carrier bag with the suspected narcotic drugs.
“The Suspect was apprehended by TOCU detectives based in Mombasa and ANU detectives based at Malindi who while acting on intelligence leads intercepted the suspect who was carrying a brown carrier bag with the suspected narcotic drugs.”
Akinyi is set be arraigned before court as search for other players in the cartel continues.
